Ship Building

For those of you that have not seen the new look into the ship customization SnowCrash has posted it up in the BP forums.

They also touch a bit on the "points and skill" system.

@Rooster: I think you have some work to do on your Game information topic if you haven't jotted it down already ^_^.

I've been tearing it a part lately. Feel free to point things out though for me if I overlook it.

Well it's nothing that i'm sure you haven't already spotted yourself I mean....

Ship Presets:

XXXL- ZOMGWTFBBQDBZ! YOUR SHIP IS HUGE!
XXL- WIDE LOAD COME'N THROUGH!
XL- Whoa! That's a big ship
L- Heavy Armored/size
M- Medium Armor/size
S- Light Armor/small size
XS-Dang, that's a small ship
XXS- Wow, is that a space car or something?
XXXS- Dude, where's my ship?

Looks like the weapon systems have the same thing like Freelancer/Freespace does as far as shield and hull damage go...

You got the Level of your ship
Speed of your ship
Acceleration of your ship
Boost Energy
Mobility
Mass

Specific level of the weapons you're using, with a max level of 100 from what it looks like.

only 1 missile launcher! here goes my hopes for a missile boat

I too am disappointed with only one missile launcher...that seems very restrictive to me in terms of ship design, but perhaps they had to do that for balancing purposes. Having said that, we don't really know what will fit into the "weapon" slots. Perhaps the missile slot can only take missiles, but the weapon slots can take guns or missiles.

Well, being a twitch based game you don't want to mess with someone that can fire 6 guided missiles at you right?

That depends on what counter measures are available. Twitch could also mean hearing the missile lock warning and being fast enough to activate jamming or flares, being able to avoid them with afterburners and line of sight. If missiles are a always-hit-I-win kind of thing then I agree, but we don't know the details of the missile systems so we can't say yet.
