Wow, nice job!

Especially the back end of the ship. I've done a little 3D modelling and I say it's a pain in the ass. I just can't manage to work all the angles and the polygons and it's just confusing for me >.<

updated, scrapped the old project, this one looks better already.

I like this one better than the Terran Transport. This one feels and looks more like a ship to me

The back seems a little strange to me, seems like someone just cut off the back portion. Maybe adding thrusters on the back? Anyways, there's definitely improvement in your work

Yes theres a lot of work to do Jester, the back is still just a flat bunch of faces with nothing else. I have to add the thrusters and engines Hopefully I'll get around to some detailing today.

Thanks rooster, really didn't expect the scope of this project when I started it once you start detailing it seems like you can spend hours doing a small little part and still have so much to do.

Update: Added a detailed version of a point defense turret for the ship.

Good to see another 3D modeler in our ranks. I suppose I could give criticism if you like, but I find that we're usually our own biggest critic.

What program are you using?

Blender 3d, tried switching to 3ds max but am pretty used to the hot keys of blender, e for extrude g for grab etc, and by all means as I'm really just learning the basics would love to hear anything you have to say, well almost anything you know telling me to just quit and kill myself could have a negative effect on self esteem.

Never used blender, 3ds has always been my program. Seems where you need help is in texturing eh?

You know, with enough modeling detail and material tweaking you can get by with simple texturing in mspaint. I've done it plenty of times. But then again, I also used to do a lot of sprite work back before all the y2k hullabaloo so I have exp in pixels and whatnot.

Don't know how versatile blender is with textures/material properties though. What really helped me improve my skill was to start modeling stuff around the house. Lamps, books/bookcases, monitors, etc etc.

Yea I should defiantly do that but being me I'm over ambitious gotta start big nothing wrong with dreams? My main problem atm is curves but slowly getting those under control. and as for that material stuff in blender haven't really played with it too much. Might render something simple around the house here and play with them tonight if I get the urge.
