Oh my bad, I told you to try a hue value of 140... it should be 210.

For the forum headers, just open GIMP and hit the Colorize function under the Colors menu, then set it to 210 for Hue. The color should match the logo pretty well, so from there I would just play with the saturation a bit.

As for a background, maybe something like bp_screenshot_009 from the fan-site pack?

(I think you'll have to re-download the fan-site pack though, it seems they added some screenshots to it recently - the one I'm talking about has a large warship with big solar panels on it.)

Of course, any background can simply be recolored, GIMP has some excellent recoloring tools.

Ha, you know I just realized you probably recognize that Gradient Flare I used in the logo, since you have the GIMP too...

Lol, I knew something was wrong with the hue you suggested. The final product was pink.

And yes, Gimp does have good color tools. I've never used Photoshop, so I don't really know what else is out there.

BTW, do you know how to make a gradient from image to transparent? What I've done in the past is selected the image, grew the border selection by about 10 pixels, then feathered it. It works.

Hey, yeah that doesn't look too bad. My only thought at this point is that the background seems too saturated.

And yes, that's typically what I do as well to get a fuzzy edge on a picture (though if I'm after a linear gradient I'll use the gradient tool).

Less saturated background as requested.

I disagree, the clan logo was actually intended to be displayed with a left-align.

As for my monitor, there's nothing wrong with how it's displaying colors. I said the background had a green tint because compared to the headers (which are a solid blue) the background does have a more green hue.

The headers have a hue of about 220 or so, while the background sits at 160-180, depending on the part of the picture. That means the background is actually colored baby-blue, just darker and less saturated.

How does everyone like this theme? Should we keep it?

I might tweak the logo soon though, there are a few things I'm not happy with in it... we'll see how it goes after my finals.

Actually the only thing I've noticed wrong with the current logo is that the background isn't completely transparent, but that's only noticable when it's on a white backdrop.

I obviously suck at this sorta stuff... but I wanted to throw an idea out there that someone else could spruce up if they like it. You dont want it that busy like mine with all the text, again its just a general idea, that would need much further improement lol

Eh Ive been trying... but I cant produce anything simple enough (Simple is better, people remember simple) to be a logo that conveys the sleek, sexy, but strong and durable feel I think would fit best.
